Obie has been a teacher for over a decade in a secondary school in Brixton, South London where she is Deputy Head of English. Her specialism is in Key Stage 5 and girls education from diverse backgrounds.  Her thesis from Warwick University explored social mobility of young BAME women, Critical Race Theory and Feminist Economics. As well as  this she works closely with newly arrived EAL students. She is a British Council Ambassador having represented the British Council on projects in collaboration with teachers from Iceland and Turkey. Additional international work includes teacher training in South Africa, Ghana, Jamaica and Indonesia and working She has been awarded educational scholarships to study in Jerusalem and the USA as well as studying in Hungary and Italy. She was a finalist at the Women of the Future Awards.
