ABOUT THE SESSION
Beth takes us through six of her 'top tips' on making the live, virtual teaching environment more...well.... human! From engaging students through the lens to the fundamental differences between the online and 'real' environments - and - most importantly, how a relational approach can make a world of difference to the quality of experience for all. In doing so, Beth extends a tin opener in hand to help unlock an area that continues to allude some of the most confident teachers

Beth covers the following areas of live virtual teaching:
  • Empathy
  • Communication styles
  • Expression through the lens
  • Planning
  • Assessing & Progress
  • Technology

ABOUT BETH FLEMING
Beth studied Chinese and Spanish at Durham University and has taught synchronous (live) lessons in the online environment for 5 years with English First (a well established online learning organisation). She was also a celebrated 'face-to-face' teacher both in China and in Spain where she taught a range of age groups and abilities. She returned to the UK to work as a Teaching Assistant at the Macmillan Academy in preparation for a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) at the prestigious UCL (University College London). Beth has an engaging manner - and has embraced the art and science of the difference between teaching online and offline - a skill set that will be greatly valued in a fast-moving culture of blended education.
